Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae) : Mandela Gold - 3 seeds

This rarely-offered Strelitzia reginae  Mandela Gold is a stunning golden-yellow form of the more common bird of paradise! After 20 years of hand pollination and selection by the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a small quantity of seed became available in 1994.

Meconopsis betonicifolia - 50 seeds
Is there a more beautiful bloom in the entire flower kingdom then the famous Blue Poppy? It is only to be expected that an elusive, magical flower like this is a little harder to grow. The secret with this plant is to grow cool and well shaded. Height: 60-90cm (24-36in).

SUNFLOWER Mongolian Giant - 20 seeds
Sow seeds March to May. Sow seeds thinly, 12mm (½in) deep in drills 45cm (18in) apart in well cultivated soil raked to a fine tilth or direct into small containers. Germination takes around 21 days. For earlier flowering: Sow indoors, individually in 7.5cm (3in) pots at 20-25C (68-77F). When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out after all risk of frost has passed.


When large enough to handle, thin to 45cm (18in) apart.
